Ah, there’s nothing like that first, big hit of a menthol flavor
at the start of the day. Menthol is
unique in that it is capable of refreshing us and cooling us down at the same
time. Menthol is a compound that
naturally occurs in plants belonging to the mint family, and it’s used for many
medicinal purposes including relieving pain.
But, when we vape it, it soothes us in ways that no other flavors can.
Why Do Some Menthol Flavors Seem Cooler Than Others?
Most menthol enthusiasts have noticed that some
menthol-flavored e-liquids are cooler than others. We’re going to be explaining why this may be

Reason #1: The Menthol’s Quality
Menthol, as we said, is a chemical compound belonging
to the mint family. Now, most vape juice
companies use pure, authentic menthol extract.

are cheap imitations of menthol out there that offer the flavor without the
cooling sensation. If you’re really
concerned about vaping an e-liquid that has a menthol replacement, call the
company and ask them what they use.
Reason #2: Amount of Menthol Used in the E-Liquid
Of course, it’s also possible that your vape juice
contains real menthol, but just not as much as you’re used to. Every e-liquid company has its own set of
recipes, and some use less menthol than others.
Needless to say, the less menthol, the less coolness you’ll feel. So, if that coolness is extremely important
to you, check the list of ingredients on the label and make sure that it
contains a high amount of menthol.
Basically, the menthol should make up at least seven percent of the
e-liquid recipe.
Reason #3: The Type of Device You’re Using
The intensity of the menthol may actually have to do
with the device that you’re using rather than the e-liquid that you’ve
purchased. As you know, the intensity of
the flavor has a lot to do with the wattage level of your device. It’s believed that high-wattage devices
produce a stronger menthol hit because of the fact that the high temperatures
bring out the intensity of the menthol itself.
Reason #4: Salt Nic vs. Freebase Nic
Salt nic e-liquids might seem like they provide a
cooler sensation because of the way in which they produce a strong hit to the
back of the throat. If that punch of
coolness to the back of your throat is important to you, you may want to go
with a vape juice made with nicotine salts.
Reason #5: Those Other Ingredients
Certain flavoring additives may offset the intensity
the menthol flavor. For instance,
certain dessert flavors like chocolate and caramel can counteract that cooling
sensation. Meanwhile, it’s believed that
fruit flavors actually enhance the intensity of the menthol. And, of course, if you’re a real menthol
fanatic, you can’t go wrong with a vape juice that contains no flavors other
than menthol.

As you can see, there are several reasons why one
menthol flavor might have a stronger cooling sensation than another. Luckily, if you’re an ice junkie, you’ll have
no trouble making adjustments to your setup to get that nice blast of
chilliness while you enjoy your menthol-flavored vape juice. After all, what’s the point of vaping a
menthol flavor if you can’t feel that frosty sensation flow across your mouth?
