Mods are basically another form of a battery, often times with a higher mAh or more wattage and voltage. The mod(or battery) is essential for your e-cigarette setup as it will heat up the coil. Adjustable wattage mods allow you to increase or decrease the wattage which in turn will heat up the coil  and vape juice more or less depending on how high or low the wattage is.
